Portland voters deserve better. After the People First Portland mailer that showed up Tuesday, I cannot stay silent.
We deserve support to vote responsibly and knowledgeably. But in order to put their candidates out front, People First Portland is creating villains where there are none. This is especially true in the case of at-large Charter Commission candidate Marpheen Chann. Anyone who met Marpheen for a moment would not entertain this dishonest misrepresentation they put on him.
I met Marpheen in February when he knocked on my door to tell me about the commission. It’s been an honor getting to know his work for our city: He is a strong civil rights activist who stood up to hate against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Portland during this pandemic while helping to implement mutual aid programs for our community.
I know Marpheen puts Portlanders first and will work with everyone elected, to do what’s best for our city.
