SOCCER

Adam Buksa scored on a header in the 70th minute and the New England Revolution stayed atop the Eastern Conference standings with a 1-0 win at FC Cincinnati on Saturday.

Buksa jumped between a pair of teammates to connect in the 6-yard box with Carles Gil’s free kick from just outside the 18-yard box near the end line.

The Revolution (5-1-2) extended their unbeaten streak to four games.

Matt Turner made a pair of saves in the 82nd minute, the second to stop a wide-open chance for Cincinnati’s Brandon Vazquez. Turner finished with four saves for his third shutout of the season.

PGA: Jordan Spieth birdied the final hole for his second consecutive round of 4-under 66 as he maintained a one-stroke lead over Jason Kokrak after the third round of the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas.

Sergio Garcia was alone in third, five strokes back.

LPGA: Ally Ewing made a 5-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th hole to beat local favorite Danielle Kang 1 up and join three major champions in the LPGA Match Play semifinals in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ewing will face Ariya Jutanugarn, a 5-and-4 winner over Minjee Lee.

In the other semifinal, Sophia Popov will play Shanshan Feng. Popov beat ANA Inspiration winner Patty Tavatanakit 3 and 2, and Feng finished off Eun-Hee Ji with a birdie putt from more than 100 feet on the 19th hole.

EUROPEAN TOUR: Bernd Wiesberger will take a one-stroke lead into the final round of the Made in HimmerLand event as he seeks to repeat as champion in Farso, Denmark.

The Austrian golfer shot a 3-under 68 to reach 14 under overall. Sweden’s Alexander Bjork is in second place.

TENNIS

EMILIA-ROMAGNA OPEN: Sebastian Korda, 20, won his first ATP trophy with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Italian wild card Marco Cecchinato in Parma, Italy.

Korda became the first American in 11 years to lift a trophy on European clay, since Sam Querrey won in Belgrade in 2010.

BELGRADE OPEN: Novak Djokovic warmed up for the French Open by beating Alex Molcan 6-4, 6-3 on home soil in Serbia to take his 83rd career title.

XFINITY: Ty Gibbs, the 18-year-old grandson of car owner Joe Gibbs, took the lead with 20 laps left at Charlotte Motor Speedway and held off the field on a final restart to get his second Xfinity Series victory in his rookie season.

Gibbs won the Daytona road course event in February with a late pass through a grassy area. This time, Gibbs overcame a spin at the end of the second stage and kept his patience until the end, when he came out on top of a side-by-side duel with Cup Series racer Chase Briscoe, who lost control and surrendered the lead to Gibbs.

BASKETBALL

WNBA: Courtney Williams scored 31 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1.6 seconds left in overtime, to lift the visiting Atlanta Dream to a 90-87 win over the New York Liberty.

Williams added 12 rebounds and seven assists for the Dream (4-2), who have won four straight.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Tage Thompson had a goal and an assist and the United States won its fourth straight game, beating Norway 2-1 in Latvia.

Jake Oettinger made 22 saves and Conor Garland also scored. The Americans are second in Group B, a point behind Finland – which beat the U.S. in the opener. The top four teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals.

CYCLING

GIRO D’ITALIA: Egan Bernal of Columbia maintained the overall lead going into the final stage, while Italian rider Damiano Caruso moved into second place overall by winning a difficult, 102-mile mountain stage from Verbania to Valle Spluga-Alpe Motta.

Bernal, the 2019 Tour de Franc champion, finished 24 seconds behind Caruso and has an overall lead of 1 minute, 59 seconds heading into the Sunday’s time trial in Milan.
