On Thursday, the clinic for COVID vaccinations closed at Brunswick Landing. Those who have volunteered there, and at other clinics around the state, deserve a round of applause. There are also others who deserve the same: the researchers who created the vaccine, the individuals who stepped up to be the test cases, the folks who put together the clinics and the volunteers.

The system worked. I say this because they, like the ones who did the same for all those old-time childhood diseases, have done something special for the world around them.

They have made our communities a much safer place to live. They have brought back the businesses, opened up town offices and given family members a chance to come together again with hugs and kisses. They have opened nursing homes and assisted living locations for family visits. Those who haven’t had a shot enjoy the benefits of the dedication to health that characterized those individuals involved in the fight against this virus, just as it did the ones in the past.

So, I take my hat off to you all with as big a “thank you” as I can muster. Thanks!
