Voters in Arundel, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport are headed to the polls June 8, electing a slate of individuals and acting on other municipal matters like budgets and referenda.

In Kennebunk, town meeting articles are also on the June 8 ballot, while in Arundel, open town meeting is 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 9 at the municipal building. In Kennebunkport, it is on Saturday, June 12 at 9 a.m. at Consolidated School.

Voters in all three towns will cast ballots on whether to validate the RSU 21 budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1 that was approved at a district meeting on May 11. At that time, those present approved a $52.9 million budget for the district, of which $45.1 million would come from taxation, up $61,000 from the current year. By community, Arundel’s contribution to the RSU 21 budget is $5.67 million; Kennebunk, $28.22 million and Kennebunkport, $11.26 million.

And while there are races for select board members and RSU 21 school board candidates, who have previously been featured, there are candidates running for other offices as well, and in some cases, there are no candidates on the ballot.

In Arundel, as well as selectmen’s races, there are three candidates for two, three-year terms on the Budget Board, including Michelle Allen, Shawn Hayes and Michael Monk. There are no candidate names on the ballot for one three-year term on the RSU 21 School Board, and none for two, two-year terms on the budget board or one, one-year budget board term.

In Kennebunk, as well as four select board races and two RSU 21 races, Chauncey J. Copeland Jr. and James A. Mildner are vying for an open seat on the Kennebunk Light & Power District Board of Trustees, a five-year stint.

Mark K. Allenwood and James A. Oppert are both unopposed as Kennebunk Sewer District trustees.

In Kennebunkport, James Burrows is unopposed as a trustee of the Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Wells Water District, while Jon Dykstra is unopposed as an at-large member of the Goose Rocks Beach Advisory Committee.

Incumbent selectmen Allen Daggett and Michael Weston are both unopposed in their bids for re-election. there is a two-way race for an RSU 21 board member

In Arundel, polls are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 8 at the Municipal Building, 257 Limerick Road.

In Kennebunk, polls open at 6 a.m. at the Town Hall Auditorium, 1 Summer St., and close at 8 p.m.

In Kennebunkport, polls are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Village Fire Station, 32 North St.

Those who voted absentee and haven’t returned the ballot, it must be in to the town clerk before the polls close on election night.
