Bath’s Beth Israel Congregation will celebrate the synagogue’s 100th anniversary on Jan. 30 by reenacting the occasion when the building opened.

The 1922 dedication of the synagogue drew a crowd of 250, according to a newspaper clipping posted on the congregation’s website at bethisraelbath.org/. The group met at the corner of Center and Washington streets before marching to the house of worship at 862 Washington St.

Community members are invited to the celebration at 1 p.m. Sunday. Attendees will meet at the same location as the congregation’s forefathers and take the same route to the synagogue.

The ceremony will be held outdoors to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
