AUBURN — Goals by Tate Morse and Jack Keefe just over two minutes apart in the second period gave Edward Little a 2-1 win over Greely in a boys’ hockey game Wednesday night at Norway Savings Bank Arena.

Gage Ducharme made 16 saves for Edward Little (10-0), the unanimous No. 1 team in the Varsity Maine boys’ hockey poll.

Evan Dutil scored midway through the third period and Spencer Osgood made 21 saves for fifth-ranked Greely (6-2).

GIRLS’ HOCKEY

EDWARD LITTLE 12, GREELY 2: Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland (4-4-2) erupted for eight goals in the first period against the Rangers (3-8) at Auburn’s Norway Savings Bank Arena.

Kylie Spugnardi and Sophia Hartley each notched a hat trick for the Red Hornets, who also got two goals from Megan Lachance and one apiece from Alyssa Prosser, Eve Martineau, Caroline Audette and Molly Sirois.

Lily Rawnsley scored both Greely goals.

YORK 6, PORTLAND/DEERING 1: Hannah Cleary notched two goals and Jill Carr and Molly Grace each had a goal and an assist as York/Traip/Marshwood/Noble (1-6-1) topped Portland/Deering (1-13) at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.

Keira Alessi and Quinn McPherson were the other goal scorers for York. Elizabeth Buckley, Charlotte Grimes and Maggie Hanlon each tallied two assists, and Katie Brower stopped eight shots.

Jane Flynn scored for Portland/Deering. Caitlyn Huynh made 18 saves.

CHEERLEADING

REGIONALS: The regional cheerleading championships scheduled for Saturday have been postponed by the Maine Principals’ Association until Feb. 5 because of an expected snowstorm.

The sites for both regionals also have changed. Regionals for Class A, Class B South and Class C South will now be held at Lewiston High School. Stearns in Millinocket will host Class B North, Class C North and Class D.

The state championship are still scheduled for Feb. 12 at the Augusta Civic Center.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

CHEVERUS 54, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 47: Silvano Ismail scored 20 points, Seth Huntington added 17 and the Stags (6-4) beat the Broncos (1-10) in Portland.

Nick Manning chipped in with 11 points.

Zach McLaughlin led Hampden with 18 points. Landon Gabric and Andrew Pinkos each had 10.

WINTHROP 56, BOOTHBAY 43: Logan Baird and Matt Beck each scored 16 points to lead the Ramblers (8-2) to a win over the Seahawks (4-8) in Winthrop.

Andrew Foster added nine points and Robby Feeney had eight.

Matt Sullivan led Boothbay with 12 points.

ISLESBORO 45, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 34: Shamus Dove scored 22 points to lift the Eagles (5-2) to a win over the Guardians (3-7) in Eliot.

Alex Watson chipped in with nine points.

Isaiah Cardinal and Sunny Johnson each had 10 points for Seacoast.

OAK HILL 95, WISCASSET 22: Caden Thompson hit four 3-pointers and scored 17 points, Pietro Capresi added 16 and the Raiders (6-6) trounced the Wolverines (0-13) in Wales.

Nate Schutte drained four 3-pointers and had 16 points for Wiscasset.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

MORSE 36, MT. BLUE 34: Maddy Werner scored 13 points as the Shipbuilders (4-5) escaped with a win over the Cougars (3-9) in Farmington.

Katelyn Daggett scored 14 points for Mt. Blue.
