This month’s message from Tedford Housing
For more than three decades, Tedford Housing has carried out its mission of empowering people to move from homelessness to home in the greater Brunswick area. We provide emergency housing, homeless prevention and outreach, supportive housing, and heating assistance to vulnerable residents of our community who are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness.
Tedford is excited to be moving forward with plans to build a new emergency housing building with shelter for individual adults and families in the Cooks’ Corner area. We outgrew our existing adult and family emergency housing facilities long ago, and they are no longer adequate to serve the needs of our guests or the needs of our community for shelter. Our new location will allow us to closely collaborate with the safety net agencies, health care providers, organizations, and community groups to prioritize and address the needs of our guests.
We plan to replace and expand our facilities to accommodate 64 guests experiencing homelessness, 24 individual adults and 10 families. We are looking forward to having all of our emergency housing and all of our staff in the same building. This will give us the opportunity to more quickly connect our guests to permanent housing and the supportive services they need to address the challenges that led to homelessness and to be successful in maintaining their housing.
