Nuclear weapons are the only devices created that could end civilization in minutes. The treaty of the prohibition of nuclear weapons keeps the world safe from the possibility of a nuclear war. The U.S. has currently not signed this treaty, and is the second leading country in nuclear weapons. The United States should sign the treaty of the prohibition of nuclear weapons to save money.

The banning of nuclear weapons would stop the unnecessary spending on nuclear forces. The U.S. threatens other countries with the possibility of a nuclear attack but are spending so much money to keep nuclear weapons. The upkeep and cost of nuclear weapons has cost billions of dollars, that they could have used on the bigger issues.

The U.S. is spending money to fight an imaginary fight. The U.S. thinks there will be a nuclear war in the future. Therefore, in their eyes, they are thinking ahead and keeping weapons so they will be prepared. The truth is that there is none in the very near future. The U.S. should focus more of its resources on problems within the country.

Using empty threats that just cost you more money than your opponent is spending is not worth it. The world will change and conflicts will arise countries must refrain from doing something so irreparable that it could end civilization. The U.S. government should sign the treaty of the prohibition of nuclear weapons.
