Bob H. Vorron

WINDHAM – Bob H. Vorron, 87, of Windham passed away on Feb. 12, 2022 from complications from COVID-19 in Lewiston. He was born in Portland on June 3, 1934 to Herbert A. Vorron and Cleona (Degree) Vorron. He attended local schools there.

Bob was a bus driver for many years, for Portland Coach, Metro, and the Windham School Dept. A lover of animals and Dobermans in particular, he also owned V’s Kennel in Windham. Bob was an automobile aficionado, owning a Pontiac Fiero, older Ferrari, Camaro, and finally a Corvette.

He also enjoyed taking care of his homestead on Route 302 in Windham, where he could be seen on his riding mower, planting and pruning trees, putting in a small pond with running water, and making a nice home for his mother and he to live. For many years, Bob was a fixture in Windham, having breakfast with a crew at McDonald’s and visiting with people in the service industry, such as the local bank and car dealerships.

Bob was devoted especially to his mother, with whom he traveled “a million miles together”, driving to and from winters in Florida or to see his sister in Rhode Island. Bob took care of his mother until she passed away one-week shy of her 102nd birthday, refusing the request of her medical providers to curtail extraordinary measures when she was in a serious car accident at age 94, providing her with a very fine and loving quality of life for her remaining years.

Bob also enjoyed reading scripture, reading from the Bible every morning.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Irene Unger of Indiana and Eleanor Maderia of Rhode Island.

Bob had some special friends, and was a cherished friend of Jack L. Schwartz and his son Stephen and his family, wife Susie and their sons, Lenny, Andrew, and Jack, who would like to thank St. Mary’s D’Youville Pavilion and Beacon Hospice for the loving care they provided to Bob.

Graveside services for Bob will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St., Portland with the Rev. Philip Andrukaitis officiating.
