NEWARK, N.J. — Maeve Carroll had 20 points and 12 rebounds as the University of Maine women’s basketball team stretched its winning streak to nine games with a 77-43 win over the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday.

Alba Orois had 18 points for the Black Bears, who improved to 15-10, 12-3 in the America East Conference. Maine jumped out to a 23-4 lead in the first quarter and cruised to the victory. Anne Simon added 13 points for Maine.

Ellyn Stoll and Aria Myers each had nine points for NJIT (13-12, 8-6).

ST. JOSEPH’S 89, LASELL 28:  Grace Phillipon scored 12 of her 20 points as the Monks (20-4, 14-2 GNAC) took a 21-point lead in the first quarter and cruised to a win over the Lasers (9-13, 7-11) in Standish.

Cassandra Stapelfeld added 14 points, including four 3-pointers for St. Joseph’s. Kaleigh Walsh added 13 points and Hailey Anderson 10.

Peyton Young had 12 points for Lasell.

BATES 87, MIDDLEBURY 75: Mia Roy finished with 35 points as the fifth-seeded Bobcats (15-7) beat the fourth-seeded Panthers (12-11) in a NESCAC quarterfinal game in Middlebury, Vermont.

Brianna Gadaletta had with 13 points and 13 points for Bates, who advances to the conference semifinals on Feb. 26. Meghan Graff and Morgan Kennedy each had 12, while Arian Dalia added 11.

Alexa Mustafaj had 27 points for Middlebury.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 80, WENTWORTH 30: Abby Cavallaro scored 20 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Nor’easters (17-8, 15-3 CCC) routed the Leopards (4-20, 2-16) in Boston.

Allie Goodman added 15 points and Jordyn Franzen followed with 12 points for the Nor’easters, who led 41-12 at halftime and extended it to 69-18 after three quarters.

SOUTHERN MAINE 60, WESTERN CONNECTICUT 51: Jackie Luckhardt had 17 points to pace the Huskies (8-15, 7-7 Little East) past the Colonials (7-17, 2-13) in Danbury, Connecticut.

Maria Degifico added 10 points for Southern Maine.

Alyssa Virtue had 11 points and Gabrielle Franks 10 for Western Connecticut.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 105, GREAT BAY CC 28:  Jaycee Cole scored 15 points and the second-seeded Seawolves (19-3) beat the seventh-seeded (3-15) in a YSCC quarterfinal in South Portland.

Maddy York had 14 points, Kyla Green added 12 and Aija Andrews had 11. Allexius Theberge and Mariah Parker chipped in with 10 apiece.

Madison Lovely had 14 for Great Bay CC.

ST. JOSEPH’S 78, LASELL 61: The Monks (8-17, 7-10 GNAC) went on a 20-0 run midway through the first half and cruised to a win over the Lasers (15-10, 11-7) in Standish.

Drew Shea scored 18 points for St. Joseph’s, while Nicholas Curtis added 16. Griffin Foley and Ashtyn Abbott each had 12 points, while David Keohan added 11.

EJ Day and Jonathan Friberg each had 15 points for Lasell.

WESTERN CONNECTICUT 72, SOUTHERN MAINE 64: The Colonials (13-11, 7-9 LEC) closed the game with an 18-0 run and beat the Huskies (9-16, 4-12) in Danbury, Connecticut.

Matthew Turner scored 22 points and Jaheim Young added 13 for Western Connecticut.

Simon Chadbourne had 15 points for Southern Maine.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 74, WENTWORTH 72: Ric Castillo scored with 46 seconds left to give the Nor’easters (7-18, 6-12 CCC) a win over the Leopards (9-15, 6-12) in Boston.

Alex Kravchuk scored 30 points for UNE, while Avery DeBrito had 11.

Trey Carrier had 22 points for Wentworth.

CENTRAL MAINE CC 73 VERMONT TECH 69:  Marshall Evans put in a layup with 1:31 to give the fourth-seeded Mustangs (13-11) a three-point lead and they held on to beat the fifth-seeded Knights (7-21) in a YSCC quarterfinal in Auburn.

David Corey had 25 points for CMCC. DeMarco McKissic had 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Malik Farley had 10 points.

Dontavious Elder had 20 points for Vermont Tech.

NHTI 102, UMAINE-AUGUSTA 69: Scott Spann and Emmortal Johnson had 19 points apiece as the Lynx (18-4) cruised to a YSCC quarterfinal win over the Moose (7-21) in Concord, New Hampshire.

Eric Crawford had 26 points for UMA.

MEN’S HOCKEY

NEW HAMPSHIRE 5, MAINE 2: Liam Devlin scored 3:13 into the third period to lift the Wildcats (14-16-1, 8-13-1 Hockey East) to a win over the Black Bears (6-18-4, 4-14-2) in Orono.

Nick Cafarelli scored in the first period to give UNH the lead and Tyler Ward scored to tie for the Wildcats in the second. Alex Gagne and Filip Engaras also scored in the third for the Wildcats.

Matthew Fawcett scored in the first and Ben Poisson in the second as Maine took a 2-1 lead.

BOWDOIN 4, TUFTS 3:  Nate Clark scored the winner 1:11 into overtime  as the Polar Bears (7-9-4, 7-7-3 NESCAC) beat the Jumbos (5-14-2, 5-10-2) in a season finale in Brunswick.

Luke Wheeler gave Bowdoin a 1-0 lead 31 seconds into the game. Patrick Ault and Jack Studley had second-period goals, while Jacob Iida and Tyler Sedlak counterered with goals for Tufts.

Sediak notched his second of the game with 12 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

HOBART 5, SOUTHERN MAINE 2: The top-seeded Statesmen (19-4-2, 13-2-2) scored three consecutive goals in the third period to beat the eight-seeded Huskies (8-14-1, 5-11-1) in an NEHC quarterfinal in Geneva, New York.

Chase Bell broke a 1-1 tie at 7:19, Zach Tyson got winner on his second of the game at 9:35 and Jonah Alexader made it 4-1 at 12:30.

Brendan Dowler scored with 25 seconds left in the first period and converted on a power play with 5:16 remaining in the third for the Huskies.

COLBY 4, CONN. COLLEGE 0: The Mules (15-5-2, 12-4-2 NESCAC) scored two empty-netters in a win over the Camels (5-14-3, 4-12-2) in Waterville.

Jacob Thousand, Max O’Brien, Michael Morrissey and Alex Bourhas scored for Colby.

Michael McHale had 28 saves for Connecticut College.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 2, NICHOLS 1: The Nor’easters (18-3-1, 17-3-1 CCC) scored twice in the first period and beat the Bison (7-15-1, 6-15-0) in Harrisville, Rhode Island.

Jared Christy and Austin Morgan each had a goal for UNE. Billy Girard made 30 saves.

Conor Leonard scored for Nichols. Korbinian Lutz tallied 29 saves.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 5, NEW HAMPSHIRE 0: Taylor Leech had a goal and a pair of assists as the Black Bears (13-19-1, 12-13-1 Hockey East) blanked the Wildcats (11-20-2, 9-16-1) at Orono.

Mira Seregerly and Maddie Giordano each had a goal and an assist for Maine, while Ally Trimper and Elise Morphy also scored.

Nicky Harnett recorded 26 saves for New Hampshire, while Jorden Mattison stopped 24 shots to earn the shutout.

WILLIAM SMITH 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Emma Faso scored 5:33 into the second overtime to lift the sixth-seeded Herons (9-14-1, 7-9-1 NEHC) over the third-seeded Huskies (15-10, 12-6) in a NEHC quarterfinal in Gorham.

Georgie Snow scored in the second period for the Huskies, and Lauren Jackson tied it midway through the third for the Herons.

Haley McKim stopped 31 shots for the Huskies.

MIDDLEBURY 3, BOWDOIN 1: Madie Leidt had two goals as the Panthers (21-0, 15-0 NESCAC) scored a goal in each period and downed the Polar Bears (10-10-1, 6-9-1) in Middlebury, Vermont.

Gia Massari scored and Dani Marquez stopped 39 shots for Bowdoin.

NICHOLS 2, U. OF NEW ENGLAND 1: Sydney Royce’s second-period goal gave the Bison (15-8-1, 10-7-1 CCC) a win over the Nor’easters (9-12-2, 9-7-2) in Biddeford.

Grace Wiggett also scored for Nichols. Victoria Bakapanos turned away 29 shots in goal.

McKenna Remillard tallied UNE’s lone goal. Delanie Corcoran had 23 saves.

AMHERST 1, COLBY 1: Carley Daly scored for the Mammoths (11-8-3, 7-6-3 NESCAC) and Madi Aumann netted the equalizer for the Mules (15-3-2, 11-3-2) as they played to a tie in Waterville.

Caitlin Walker had 40 saves for Amherst and Nina Prunster had 23 for Colby.

LSU 17, MAINE 8: Jacob Berry hit a pair of home runs as the Tigers (2-0) had 17 hits in a win over the Black Bears (0-2) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Joe Bramanti had a double, a home run and two RBI for Maine. Jordan Schulefand added a two-run double.

MAINE 14, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 4: Kya Enos hit a grand slam in the seven inning as the Black Bears (1-2) scored nine runs in the seventh inning to beat the Eagles (4-5) in Statesboro, Georgia.

Enos had six RBI, while Izzy Nieblas had three.

Faith Shirley homered for Georgia Souther. Reign Williams had two RBI. Kyleigh Richardson took the loss in 3 2/3 innings.

NORTH DAKOTA STATE 12, MAINE 2: Emilee Buringa and Cameryn Maykut each had three RBI as the Bison (5-2) beat the Black Bears (1-3) in Statesboro, Georgia.

Molly Gates, Carley Goetschius and Skylar Padgett each had two RBI for North Dakota State. Savy Williams struck out five in seven innings.

Mariah Pearson had a two-run double for Maine.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

ST. JOSEPH’S 20, MAINE MARITIME 4: Lydia Dexter had four goals and four assists as the Monks rolled to a win over the Mariners in a mutual opener in Standish.

Carson Battaglia added three goals, while Bridget Collins had two goals and two assists for St. Joseph’s. Brianna Paul, Shauna Clark, Cailyn Wesley and Megan Mourmouras also had two goals each for the Monks.

Hazel Stoddard had three goals for Maine Maritime.

MEN’S LACROSSE

WHEATON 11, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 6: Robert Sullivan scored four goals as the Lynx (2-0) beat the Nor’easters (0-1) in Norton, Massachusetts.

Lou Minella added two goals and an assists for Wheaton.

Kyle Kennedy had two goals for UNE.
