While reading the Jan. 22 Chicago Tribune guest editorial (“Another View: Lifetime bans a fitting punishment for ‘Pharma Bro’ and his ilk”), I was struck by the parallels between “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli and our defeated former president, Donald Trump. Both cleverly manipulated our systems to solely benefit themselves at the expense of any and all others. Shkreli now resides in prison, must pay huge reparations and has been barred for life from the pharmaceutical industry. Consequences, all well deserved.

Trump, many times over a more existential threat, deserves nothing less than a similar outcome. Seemingly revered by many cult members, he has demonstrated, time and again, his complete lack of character and competence. He is not worthy of being either respected or feared.

I urge our entire legal system, from local to federal level, to go after him full bore, to strip away the “emperor’s new clothes” and expose him for what he is. The treasonous conspiracy he orchestrated came perilously close to fruition, and Act 2 is already well underway.

Consequences for his entire avaricious mob, more than well deserved.
