Who will admit that they agree with Rep. MaryAnne Kinney’s rationale for voting against the Equal Rights Amendment to the Maine Constitution?

After all, according to Kinney, things aren’t that bad for women in Maine. She argues, in Staff Writer Penelope Overton’s paraphrase, that “Maine has one of the smallest wage gaps in the nation.”

Why does Kinney think so little of herself, and women as a whole, that she and they should accept less of a day’s wage than the man who is plowing the same field?

Which begs the question: Is it OK, according to Kinney, for women to be forced to accept less-qualified medical care? Or, is it simply OK for women to accept less of everything, as long as it is only a little bit less?

I don’t get it.
