The Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram announced that it has hired four new reporters:

Emily Allen

Emily Allen will cover courts and justice. Allen was previously a Report for America fellow based at Mountain State Spotlight, a nonprofit investigative news organization in West Virginia, where she worked as a community watchdog reporter.

Jordan Andrews

Jordan Andrews will cover fisheries, civil litigation and other business topics. Andrews has worked as an investigative reporter at Courier Publications in Rockland, a staff writer for the Portland Phoenix, and a freelancer for several outlets.

Tim Cebula

Tim Cebula will cover food and dining. Cebula was a senior editor for Cooking Light magazine, where he spent 13 years. He was also a reporter for the Berkshire Eagle, food editor for Berkshire magazine, and sous chef for The Old Inn on the Green in New Marlboro, as well as a freelance writer and consultant.

Lana Cohen

Lana Cohen will cover education. Cohen was previously a reporter for VTDigger, a nonprofit investigative journalism organization in Vermont; a Report for America fellow in Mendocino, California; and an environmental reporting fellow for WhoWhatWhy, a nonprofit news organization based in New York.

Shireen Shahawy

Shireen Shahawy has joined OceanView at Falmouth as assistant director of sales and marketing. Shahawy most recently served as the executive director at Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ in Portland. She brings several years of marketing experience working with Vreeland Marketing in Yarmouth and Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram.

Jane Stevens

Morgan Stanley announced that it has hired Jane Stevens as a financial advisor at the firm’s wealth management office in Portland. Stevens, of Portland, worked previously for Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Co.

David Emberley

David Emberley has joined Cornerstone Visiting Nurse Association as finance director. Emberley has more than 35 years of experience in various finance and accounting roles. Most recently, he worked as the chief financial officer and controller for Granite VNA in Concord, New Hampshire, for nearly a decade.

Gary Gause

Portland debt-management technology firm Constant has hired Gary Gause as lead developer. Gause brings more than 25 years of experience leading high-performing development teams, primarily at startups.

Dr. Zachary Trzaska

Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital has hired Dr. Zachary Trzaska to its cardiology practice in Ellsworth. Trzaska completed his residency and fellowship at Maine Medical Center. After practicing at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, he has spent the past five years at Southern Maine Health Care Cardiology.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Ken Albert

Ken Albert, president and CEO of Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice, has been elected to serve as chairman of the board of directors for the National Association for Home Care and Hospice. Albert brings 17 years of clinical practice in emergency and intensive care settings. He served as director of emergency services at Central Maine Medical Center and as site manager for LifeFlight of Maine in Lewiston.

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences has appointed four new members to its board of trustees:

Mark Abbott

Mark Abbott most recently served as the 10th president and director of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and is now president emeritus.

Peter Handy

Peter Handy is president and chief executive of Bristol Seafood in Portland. He serves on the boards of Maine Public Radio and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine.

Randall Jeffery

Randall Jeffery had a 20-year career in radio station mergers and acquisitions. Jeffery is passionate about preserving our oceans and marine life and is a U.S. Coast Guard 100-Ton Master Captain.

Dimitri Michaud

Dimitri Michaud has nearly two decades of experience in financial and business strategy with leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. He is currently the chief operating officer at Gorham Savings Bank.

Tempe Landi

Coastal Mountains Land Trust has hired Tempe Landi as development and communications coordinator. Landi, of Lincolnville, most recently worked for Skidmore College in New York.
