I grew up in North Yarmouth and decided this is where I wanted to raise a family. Almost 50 years here now.

A few years back I noticed new, large developments sprouting up around our rural town. Before long, more, larger developments started being carved out of our woods and fields. I had been under the impression there was a cap on building permits in town, but I was not involved with or paying attention to the municipal goings-on.

When I learned there were unlimited building permits issued in certain areas of town, it came as a shock to me.

I understand development will happen. Does it need to happen all at once, in any kind of unlimited fashion? For this reason I urge North Yarmouth residents to vote “yes” on March 15 to tap the brakes a bit on development – not to stop it.
