KENNEBUNK – March may seem a bit early to be thinking of the annual June election and town meeting – especially since a special town meeting is coming up March 29 – but it is just the right time for those considering a re-election bid or running for office.
Kennebunk voters will go to the polls June 14 to elect two members of the select board, two Regional School Unit 21 directors, one trustee of Kennebunk Light and Power District and two Kennebunk Sewer District trustees.
Nomination papers became available from the town clerk’s office at town hall on March 4. Those looking to be elected to these positions need at least 25, but no more than 100 signatures of registered Kennebunk voters to appear on the ballot. The deadline for nomination papers to be submitted at the clerk’s office is 4:30 p.m. April 15, said Town Clerk Merton Brown.
Select board, RSU 21 and sewer district terms are three years. The power district trustee term is five years.
Incumbents are select board members L. Blake Baldwin and Frank Paul; RSU 21 directors Matt Fadiman and Tim Stentiford; and Kennebunk Sewer District trustees Wayne Brockway and Arnold Reim. Incumbent Kennebunk Light and Power District trustee is Bradley Scott Ducharme.
Brown noted absentee ballots for the June 14 election become available May 13.
As for the March 29 special town meeting, Brown said absentee ballots are available and polls will be open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
