Watching the Jan. 6 Committee hearings is disappointing and frightening at the same time. Our democracy and our Constitution are being attacked, not by outside forces, but by the “Grand Old Party” – the Republicans.

What Donald Trump and his buddies have done to our democratic system is the very definition of “treason.” A word rarely used in modern times, looking back in time, treason was punishable by death, and yet we have watched this party trying to destroy our history, our way of life, right out in the open.

With elections just around the corner, we Americans need to think and consider the choices we make. Our futures depend on it. Yes, our economy is a mess right now, but as always, it will find its way back. We need to remember the reasons.

COVID has temporarily changed our way of life, disrupted supply chains and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine have all contributed to oil costs. But are you willing to jeopardize our democracy for the high costs of living?

Republicans are using inflation to attack Democrats, but let’s remember what the Republicans represent: eliminating a woman’s right to choose; dictating who you can love and marry; allowing assault weapons; limiting voting rights; and, most importantly, advocating autocracy over democracy!

We are no longer voting for a party, folks. We are voting for survival.
