ARLINGTON, Texas — J.P. Crawford hit an RBI single in the 10th inning and the Seattle Mariners stretched their winning streak to 13 games, beating the Texas Rangers 3-2 on Saturday.

Carlos Santana homered as the Mariners (50-42) moved closer to the club-record 15-game winning streak set in their last playoff season in 2001. They have won 21 of their last 24 games overall to take eight series in a row, their most since winning 14 straight series during that 116-win season 21 years ago.

Seattle would match the longest winning streak in the majors this year with a victory in the series finale Sunday – its final game before the All-Star break. Reigning World Series champion Atlanta won 14 games in a row last month.

Crawford chopped a one-out single down the line past first base off Brett Martin (0-5), who was the fifth Texas pitcher and went the last two innings. That scored automatic runner Sam Haggerty, who came on as a pinch runner for Santana, who had an inning-ending groundout in the ninth.

ORIOLES 6, RAYS 4: Ryan Mountcastle hit a two-run single in the 11th inning, and Baltimore won in St. Petersburg, Florida, a day after its 10-game winning streak ended.

ASTROS 5, ATHLETICS 0: Justin Verlander struck out 10 in six sharp innings to post his MLB-leading 12th win and Houston beat visiting Oakland.

Martín Maldonado hit a second-inning grand slam as the AL West-leading Astros bounced back after a 5-1 loss in the series opener Friday night.

Verlander (12-3) allowed six hits without a walk and lowered his ERA to 1.89, which ranks third in the majors.

Didi Gregorius and Rhys Hoskins also went deep for the Phillies, who had not scored more than three runs in their previous seven games. Gregorius finished with four RBI.

BRAVES 6, NATIONALS 3: Matt Olson and freshly minted All-Star Austin Riley hit consecutive home runs in the third inning, and Atlanta dealt host Washington its ninth loss in a row.

Earlier in the day, Washington outfielder Juan Soto expressed irritation after The Athletic, citing unidentified sources, reported he turned down a $440 million, 15-year contract offer to remain with the Nationals that would have been the most lucrative in baseball history.

NOTES

ALL-STAR GAME: Houston second baseman Jose Altuve, San Francisco Giants pitcher Carlos Rodón, St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado and Miami Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr won’t be playing in Tuesday’s All-Star Game.

Altuve, Arenado and Chisholm are all dealing with injuries. It’s unclear why Rodón will miss the game.

MLB announced that Altuve is being replaced in the starting lineup by Cleveland’s Andrés Giménez, who is making his first appearance. Toronto’s Santiago Espinal will replace Altuve on the AL roster.

Dodgers pitcher Tyler Anderson, Atlanta third baseman Austin Riley and San Diego’s Jake Cronenworth were added to the NL roster.

RAYS: Tampa Bay center fielder Kevin Kiermaier said after being moved to the 60-day injured list that he could miss the rest of the regular season because of a left hip injury.

Kiermaier, a Gold Glove-caliber outfielder, hasn’t played since July 9.
