WINDHAM – Gustavo G. Perez Jr., 97, of Windham, passed away at home surrounded by family on August 1, 2022. He was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on Oct. 4, 1924, son of the late Gustavo Sr. and Jessie Perez.

He joined the Navy upon graduating high school in 1943 and served as a landing craft operator during WWII. During his time stationed in Eastport, Maine, he met the love of his life, Phyllis (Eye) Perez. They were married on August 29, 1944.

After his separation from the Navy, he worked for many years and retired from Rowe Ford as a body shop manager. After his retirement, he went into the insurance business estimating auto claims.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending many hours in his woodworking shop turning bowls and building furniture, all while listening to Patsy Cline and Freddy Fender.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 78 years Phyllis Perez; children, Paulette Bryant and her husband Richard, Linda, Inez (John), Robin Forbes and her husband Peter, and Patty Hulit and her husband Jimmy, as well as his son Gus and his wife Audrie. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

No words can describe how loved and missed Gustavo will be by his family.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. at South Gorham Cemetery.
