Library continues
memoir workshops
West Buxton Public Library will continue to fund workshops on writing a memoir from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month via Zoom.
The workshop series began in January with a grant from the Narragansett Number One Foundation. Workshops are free and participants are welcome to join at any time.
Author Robert Ashton, who wrote “This Old Man and the Sea” about his journeys aboard a sailboat, will be a guest speaker Sept. 14.
Not realizing that “Chandelle” will be his home for the next 10 years Ashton joins a group of sailors preparing to brave the Gulf Stream and adjacent waters from Norfolk, Virginia, to the Caribbean. “Captain” Ashton sails to numerous destinations in his quest to circumnavigate the globe, including the Panama Canal, the Galapagos Islands, the Fiji Islands, Africa and Australia. He meets an eclectic group of people, experiences a variety of cultures, and discovers the freedom of sailing the open waters.
Workshop leader Lorraine Lindstedt has attended various writing workshops and is a well-traveled storyteller who highlights the humorous side of life. She has been published in Computers in Nursing and Maine Seniors Magazine and is a newsletter editor, according to a press release.
