Since all the political hoopla has subsided (for now), don’t you think it would be a good time to acknowledge and thank those who work around us and for us daily, year in and year out?
I’m talking about the Parks and Recreations Department, whose workers maintain all of the South Portland properties, lawns and greenery. They mow around and take care of the greenway; they manage and care for Mill Creek Park – speaking of which, lights will be appearing soon, and every year a few more are added. I thank them.
Another unsung group are the South Portland Metro drivers. I have, in recent years, become a steady customer. The drivers I have encountered are patient, thoughtful and helpful. They are pleasant, even in the heat of summer, with all the heavy traffic of tourist season and the complications of construction.
Happy Thanksgiving, Christmas season and all other holidays.
