Cape Elizabeth Land Trust is accepting artist submissions for Paint for Preservation 2023, the organization’s 16th annual juried auction.

Over three days on the weekend of June 23-25, selected artists will paint en plein air (outdoors) at designated public and private locations chosen to highlight Cape Elizabeth’s natural beauty. All work must be done on location; no studio work is allowed.

The public is welcome and encouraged to tour the public sites to watch the artists at work throughout the weekend.

On Sunday, June 25, the newly painted artwork will be auctioned live at a tented cocktail reception at a seaside location in Cape Elizabeth. Proceeds from the auction are shared with participating artists and benefit land trust’s conservation of the shore lands, marshes, farmlands and woodlands that provide beauty, recreational opportunities and wildlife habitat in Cape Elizabeth.

Interested artists are invited to submit three images of recent original plein-air paintings in any medium for juried consideration. For the artist submission form and further instructions regarding submission requirements, visit  www.capelandtrust.org/paint.

The deadline for artists’ submissions is Friday, Feb. 24.

“USA Triathlon is focused on promoting and amplifying the sport to underserved communities – and the initiatives Gabriella, Julie and Michael have implemented at their local events are great examples of the type of collaboration and innovation that opens and promotes the sport to new audiences.” said Victoria Blumfield, CEO of USA Triathlon, in an email.

“We’ve introduced thousands of women from all over the world to a sport they never thought was possible by believing in the power of a cause that is so near and dear to them,” said Julie Marchese. “This event is a sign of hope and determination for women to become active while giving back to their communities.”

Founded in 2008, Tri for a Cure is Maine’s only all-women’s triathlon and Maine’s largest single-day fundraiser. Since inception, 17,187 women have participated in the event, generating more than $20 million for the Maine Cancer Foundation. Registration is open for the 16th annual Tri for a Cure, scheduled for July 16 in South Portland.
