I want to express my appreciation for the Feb. 14 Maine Voices column by Kristen Salvatore, concerning Israeli human rights violations against Palestinians and our continued financial support of Israel (“Maine Voices: Silence of our state’s senators on human rights violations equals complicity”). I totally agree with her and very recently wrote a letter to President Biden expressing the same sentiments.
I would add that it is also hugely concerning that the current Israeli government is planning to weaken the judiciary. Hardly the action of a true democracy. I was very heartened by the size of the protesting crowd, even though the government has not been dissuaded.
