Adding to Kristen Salvatore’s excellent piece on Israel’s violation of the human rights of Palestinians (“Maine Voices: Silence of our state’s senators on human rights violations equals complicity,” Feb. 14), Mainers should know the cost of U.S. military aid to Israel. That aid totals nearly $4 billion each year, far more than we send to any other country.
Meanwhile, Israel has its own thriving defense industry and actually exports weapons.
Let’s keep that $4 billion at home where we need it and stop aiding the Israeli military’s detention and killing of Palestinian people.
