Many thanks to the Portland Press Herald staff of talented photographers.

Tuesday’s (Feb. 21) photos of the state school sports championships are incredible, perfectly conveying the energy, motion and joy of these events. Luckily, every day we are treated to photos that artistically capture the beauty of Maine, its landscape and seascape and its people, infinitely deepening the reader’s sense of what it means to be a Mainer.

And kudos also to those who write the clever headings. “Scrapes of wrath” is my all-time favorite, referring to ice shavings flying as a man scraped his car windows. Please keep up the outstanding work, and know that it is both valuable and deeply appreciated.
