The Grand Old Party ain’t so grand as it marches in lockstep to the culture war playbook.
Let’s burn some books! Let’s eliminate some uncomfortable historical facts so we don’t make people uncomfortable!
How about attacking a woman’s right to privacy and control over her own body? Oh yes, and those cross-dressers and drag queens. Let’s send some librarians to jail, maybe a few doctors or nurse practitioners. Avoid any real issues at all costs.
Firearms? Let’s make the AR-15 the “national gun.” Drugs? Let’s just blame the president and leave it alone. Immigration? No way. Much too complicated (takes too much time away from fundraising for reelection campaigns). Attempted overthrow of an election? (“Didn’t work; let’s just forget it.”)
This edition of the Republican Party does not deserve our support, respect or our attention.
