The 15-year-old girl hit by a car Friday night in Sanford is in stable condition, police said Monday.

The teen, whose name has not been released, was hit by a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Friday afternoon at the intersection of High Street and Island Avenue. She was trapped under the car until rescue crews arrived and she was taken by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center, where she was initially listed in critical condition.

Maj. Matthew Gagné of the Sanford Police Department said the crash is being investigated and no charges have been filed against the driver.

The driver, who has not been identified, remained at the scene and was interviewed by police.
