Shirley G. Binette

BIDDEFORD — It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley G. Binette on April 3, 2023, at the age of 92.

Shirley was born on Oct. 9, 1930, in Biddeford, Maine, to Dennis Sirois and Lorilda (Bouchard) Sirois.

Shirley lived in Biddeford for 69 years and The Wardwell in Saco for the last 5 1/2 years.  She was a very religious lady and was a member of St. Andre’s Church and then Most Holy Trinity. On Jan. 29, 1949, she married the love of her life, Fernand Binette, and they were married for 63 years until his passing.

Shirley left school at a young age to work on the family farm in Caribou, Maine. When she was younger, she enjoyed playing guitar and was a great bowler. She loved to shop, always looking for a bargain, and was a very stylish and fashionable person. Family was very important to her.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband Fernand, and two sisters, Gloria and Joyce. She is survived by her son Michael Binette and wife Joanne, son Rickie Binette and wife Sharon, grandchildren Chad Binette and wife Hollie, Jocie Stephens and husband Chris, and Shane Binette and wife Kristin; great-grandchildren Luke, Veronica, Finley, Mila, Savannah, Olivia, and Nolan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Southern Maine Health Care third floor doctors, nurses, and staff as well as the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their professional care.  They would also like to thank Kim and the wonderful staff at The Wardwell for making Shirley feel at home in her apartment.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wardwell, 43 Middle St., Saco, ME 04072 for their resident activities.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME  04005.

Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
