Historical Society open house for members
The Gorham Historical Society will have an open house for its members from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at its new headquarters at Cherry Hill Farm on lower Main Street.
It’s an opportunity for members to see the society’s the setup in a historic barn. The society is making plans to be open to the public every other week throughout the summer.
Taste Walk reminder
The annual Taste Walk is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at food venues in Gorham Village. Sample favorite dishes of the eateries and vote for a winner.
Maps with locations will be available at Robie Gym on South Street and cost $8 per adult in advance and $10 the day of the event, $5 for age 6 and under.

50 years ago
The American Journal reported on June 6, 1973, that Claire Libby of School Street was retiring after 29 years as a teacher in Gorham Schools. Libby was honored with a tea party May 27.
U.S. taxpayer debt
The Treasury Department reported on May 24 that the U.S. public debt was $31,461,618,625,936.66.
