Most weeks the Insight section of the Telegram’s print edition presents Jim Fossel‘s and Victoria Hugo-Vidal‘s columns side by side, implying some kind of equivalency or parallelism.
Lately, several letter writers have complained about the lack of logic in the Fossel column. Though accurate, that’s not the issue. One of these paired columns is full of Republican partisan content that would fit neatly in a Republican Party newsletter. The other is a creative, fascinating journey each week, from a feminist progressive perspective, seldom from a partisan one.
Hugo-Vidal writes about all aspects of life, and her writing shines and her personality beckons. Pairing them speaks poorly of the editorial policy of the section.
