The 64-year-old Portlander said he started flying kites in 1996 when he received a stunt kite as a gift. Now he has so many kites he doesn’t “even want to count,” he said. The best aspects of kite flying are entertaining onlookers and helping inexperienced kite flyers learn the hobby, he added.
