Railbiking with Revolution Rail is an excursion activity for all ages that allows riders to ride the railroad tracks under their own power. On the guided tour, patrons travel along a scenic section of the historic Atlantic Shore Line Railway that once carried passengers and freight in York County from 1904-1927. Railbikers are treated to a 3.5-mile ride with a stop at Seashore Trolley Museum’s Talbott Park to learn more about the history of the area and the railroad.

Railbiking is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace to give you a chance to take in the surroundings. Those who are able to comfortably walk for 1.5 hours should be able to ride the railbike in stride.

As long as there is one person able to pedal the bike, anyone of any age or ability can join on the ride. Infants and children less than 25 pounds may ride with an adult in a BabyBjörn-style harness. Children able to sit up on their own or who are more than 25 pounds ride in their own seat, and may use Revolution Rail’s five-point harness to keep them safely riding. Children under the age of 15 must ride with an adult on the same railbike.

Excursions are $60 for a two-person railbike and $100 for a four-person railbike. Admission to the Seashore Trolley Museum is also included in the price of the railbike excursion through the end of July. Patrons are invited to stay and check out the museum’s exhibits and take a trolley ride, or head downtown to Kennebunkport for a meal.

Railbike excursions are offered Friday-Sunday at 10:45 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 3:15 p.m., and 4:45 p.m. Beginning June 22 through Labor Day, additional excursions will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and additional departure times will be added on all five days at 9:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.
