Tennessee- and New York City-based Grammy-nominated roots singer-songwriter Valerie June swings through Maine on her current tour. June has released five full-length albums, and written songs recorded by Mavis Staples and The Blind Boys of Alabama. She’s also a poet and her book, “Maps for the Modern World,” was an Amazon bestseller. Along with her original tunes, June released an EP of covers that includes an enchanting take on Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You.”

Catch an Americana act that’s been making music since 1989. Donna the Buffalo mixes traditional mountain with Cajun, Zydeco, rock, folk, reggae and country for a sound that’s all its own. Fans are known as the Herd, and you can become one of them Friday. Over the decades the band has performed at Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival and Merle Fest, and on other prestigious stages with bands like Los Lobos, Little Feat and Rusted Root.

Jam band Gov’t Mule, led by Allman Brothers Band guitarist and Grammy winner Warren Haynes, has been at it since the mid-’90s. Its latest record, the band’s 12th, was released in June and is called “Peace … Like a River.” Guests on it include Billy Bob Thornton, Ivan Neville and guitar phenom Celisse. Fans can expect a compelling show from a band of top-drawer musicians who love to play with plenty of improv and wandering solos.
