BIDDEFORD — Countless residents have contributed to the success of Biddeford and Saco over the recent past.  On Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the City Theater in Biddeford, those interested will have the opportunity to hear from 10 of them.

The Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural “Ten Talks” event will feature 10 five-minute presentations from local leaders on topics reflective of their specific passions. The line-up of speakers come from diverse backgrounds including politics, education, business, health care, and community leadership. Speakers include: Biddeford Mayor Alan Casavant; University of New England President James Herbert; Scott Gillespie, president of Saco Sport & Fitness; Jayne Van Bramer, president and CEO at Sweetser; Ryan Fecteau, former speaker of the House and now senior adviser with the State of Maine; Delilah Poupore, executive director of Heart of Biddeford; Derek Volk, president of Volk Packaging; Fausto Pifferer of Blue Elephant Catering; Maggie O’Neil, a state representative from Saco; and the City Theater’s Manager Alyssa Forcier.

“Our ‘Ten Talk’” event will be a unique and interesting way to learn more about and celebrate the ongoing progress in our community, by hearing directly from folks who are helping to lead our growth and success,” said Jim LaBelle, executive director of the Biddeford & Saco Chamber of Commerce.

The night begins at 6 p.m. with informal networking and an opportunity for attendees to bid on Silent Auction items.  The “Ten Talks” presentations begin at 7 p.m. on the theater stage, and the event concludes between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. with final Silent Auction item bidding and additional networking.  The Silent Auction component of the evening will feature approximately 30 auction item options displayed throughout the theater, including local restaurant gift certificates, entertainment options, artwork, shopping gift certificates, fun and leisure activities, and more.

Advance registration to attend “Ten Talks” is recommended.  Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the door on Oct. 4tfor $10.  All funds raised will support ongoing chamber activities along with their annual student scholarship program.
