Sophie Smith and Celia Zinman scored fourth-quarter goals to rally host Yarmouth to a 2-1 victory over Cape Elizabeth in a Class B South field hockey Saturday in Yarmouth.
Cape (4-3) took a 1-0 lead in the second quarter when Lulu Stoecklein tipped home a Mia Frost shot.
That lead held up until 8:07 remained, when Smith, who hit the post twice earlier in the game, scored an unassisted goal.
Yarmouth then moved ahead with 3:40 to play. Cape Elizabeth goalie Zoe Burgard (two saves) stopped a Smith shot off a penalty corner, but Zinman knocked in the rebound.
Quincy Schnee made three saves for the Clippers, who are ranked sixth in the Varsity Maine top 10.
WINDHAM 2, BIDDEFORD 1: Zocia LaWind broke a tie late in the third quarter with her second goal of the game, lifting the Eagles (3-3) over the Tigers (4-2) in Windham.
LaWind’s first goal, assisted by Grace Joly late in the second quarter, gave Windham a 1-0 halftime lead.
Riley Langevin tied it early in the third quarter, assisted by Ayla Lagasse.
Zoe Dries assisted on LaWind’s winning goal.
Windham goalie Olivia McPherson made 12 saves. Cadence Goulet recorded 10 saves for Biddeford.
FREEPORT 6, POLAND 0: Emily Groves collected two goals and an assist, and Reed Proscia had a goal and two assists as the Falcons (6-1) downed the Knights (1-6) in Freeport.
Ellie Foss, Anna Maschino, and Sophia Brown also scored, while Sophie Bradford, Liza Flower and Kam Lizotte each had an assist. Freeport goalie Maddie Kryzak needed just one save.
FALMOUTH 1, SANFORD 0: Macy Bush’s goal in the first quarter held up for the Navigators (4-1) against the Spartans (2-2) in Sanford.
Bush scored from Allie Sweetser with 2:40 left in the opening quarter.
Jenna Nunley stopped five shots for Falmouth, while Megan Sheppard made six saves for Sanford.
BRUNSWICK 4, BANGOR 0: Felicity Jackson scored two goals and set up another, leading the Dragons (2-5) over the Rams (0-7) in Brunswick.
Kiki Dinsmore added a goal and an assist. Lily Hanna capped the scoring early in the fourth quarter, and Ella Duchette made three saves for the shutout.
FOOTBALL
MASSABESIC 34, WESTBROOK 33: The Mustangs (1-3) rallied from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter, scoring the go-ahead touchdown and extra point with 2:31 remaining to beat the Blue Blazes (1-3) in Waterboro.
Westbrook quarterback Giovanni Staples passed for 155 yards and three touchdows – two to Aidan Taylor. Gavin Tanner led Westbrook’s ground attack with 20 carries for 152 yards and two TDs.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 60, TELSTAR 0: Brady Plante threw two touchdown passes, Wesley Gallant and Grae MacNair each reached the end zone twice, and the Seagulls (4-0) routed the Rebels (1-3) in Bethel.
It’s the fourth straight shutout for OOB, which has outscored opponents 246-0.
Gallant had an 82-yard run and a 24-yard TD catch. MacNair scored on runs of 22 and 30 yards, Asher Hubert had a 65-yard touchdown run, and Riley Provencher scored from 25 yards as the Seagulls built a 54-0 halftime lead.
The final two touchdowns were Trot Moody’s 47-yard reception and an interception return by Levi Perrone.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 30, HERMON 14: Aaron Reed rushed for three touchdowns and two conversion, then made a clinching interception as the Panthers (4-0) beat the Hawks (1-3) in Hermon.
Reed scored from 13 yards in the first quarter, from the 1 in the second and from the 14 in the third.
Quarterback Bruce Coulter had both touchdowns for Hermon, on runs of 30 and 47 yards.
Porter Gahagan added a 2-yard touchdown run and a conversion rush with about a minute remaining.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
GORHAM 4, THORNTON ACADEMY 3: Julia Reed scored 4:06 into the second overtime as the Rams (7-0) fought off the Trojans (4-2) in Saco.
Gorham’s Ashley Connolly forced overtime when she scored with 11:21 left in regulation. Sara Rosingana and Kaitlyn Nichols scored first-half goals for the Rams, offsetting goals by Thornton’s Kayleigh Corriveau and Charlotte Belanger.
Belanger connected again early in the second half to make it 3-2.
YARMOUTH 3, GREELY 0: Taylor Oranellas scored in the third minute, Kadin Davoren and Sophie Wentzell each added a goal, and the host Clippers (6-1) avenged a season-opening loss to the Rangers (4-2-1).
Davoren made it 2-0 later in the first half, and Wentzell put it away in the second half.
Regan Sullivan stopped three shots for shutout. Greely’s Lizzie Sproul made four saves.
FREEPORT 2, WAYNFLETE 1: Rosie St. Cyr scored the opening goal and Taryn Curry got the eventual winner of a corner kick by St. Cyr as the Falcons (4-1-3) beat the Flyers (4-3) in Freeport.
Lydia Burknes scored for Waynflete off a direct kick late in the first half.
LAKE REGION 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Kayli Goodwin scored twice and Jordan Blanton stopped nine shots as the Lakers (5-3-1) edged the Patriots (3-5) in Gray.
Caitlin Butler scored from Ellie Schlichting for the Patriots. Abby Joyce made six saves.
FALMOUTH 5, BONNY EAGLE 0: Gracyn Mick recorded a hat trick, and the Navigators (3-1) shut out the Scots (2-4) in Standish.
Mackenzie VerLee and Josie D’Andrea also scored. Falmouth keeper Abigail Pausman made two saves.
Brynn Tilburg stopped five shots for Bonny Eagle.
SOUTH PORTLAND 5, MASSABESIC 0: Brooke Lawton, Maci Raucher and Mya Lawrence scored in the first half, and Marina Bassett and Stella Henderson added second-half goals as the Red Riots (3-1-1) defeated the Mustangs (0-5-1) in South Portland.
OCEANSIDE 3, WATERVILLE 1: Ava Philbrook scored twice as the Mariners (6-0-1) remained undefeated with a win over the Panthers (5-3) in Waterville.
Aubrianna Hoose also scored for Oceanside, and Raven Pierce added an assist. Keeper Jillian Barnard made nine saves.
Piper Hamilton scored for Waterville, assisted by Abigail Dudley. Jade Howard (six saves) and Lexie Van Der Westhuyzen (three) shared goaltending duties.
MORSE 5, LEAVITT 1: Edie McKay had a hat trick and an assist as the Shipbuilders (4-3) defeated the Hornets (1-6) in Turner.
Morse goalkeeper Riley Walters made nine saves, including one on a penalty kick. She then played striker in the second half and scored on a breakaway. Shea Brochu got Morse’s other goal.
RICHMOND 3, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 2: Goals by Breonna Dufresne, Lila Viselli and Ella Briand staked Richmond to a 3-0 halftime lead, and the Bobcats (4-2) held off the visiting Seagulls (3-4).
Tessa Ferguson got both Old Orchard Beach goals.
CARRABEC 9, WISCASSET 1: Leah Price notched a hat trick as the Cobras (4-2-1) rolled to a victory over the Wolverines (1-4) in North Anson.

WESTBROOK 4, CHEVERUS 3: Marcelin Kobenan and Paddy Walsh each scored twice, and the Blue Blazes (4-3-1) escaped with a win over the Stags (2-5) in Portland.
Cheverus took the lead in the fifth minute when Anton Behuniak got behind the defense and redirected a well-placed free kick by Shane McGrath into the left side of the net.
Kobenan headed in a lob from the right corner by Jonilson Gomes in the 12th minute.
Cheverus struck again in the 21st minute, as McGrath sent a through ball to Henry Huntley, who tucked it into the left side of the net.
Walsh finished a short pass from Ithiel Mulumba in the 29th minute for a 2-2 halftime score.
Midway through the second half, Walsh kicked in a bounced pass from Kobenan for the go-ahead goal. Kobenan then scored the eventual winner, beating keeper Griffin MacLeod 1-on-1 after a through ball from Walsh.
McGrath converted a penalty kick for Cheverus with about two minutes remaining.
YARMOUTH 1, GREELY 0: Zach Kelly’s goal in the 12th minute stood up and the Clippers (7-1) won their seventh straight game, beating the Rangers (4-2-1) in Yarmouth.
Kelly’s goal came off a deflection on a corner kick.
Ian O’Connor stopped eight shots for the Clippers. Greely’s Landon Dominski also made eight saves.
BONNY EAGLE 2, SANFORD 0: Connor Cormier scored off a corner kick from Will Tracy, and Lucas Drinkwater converted a penalty kick later in the first half as the Scots (4-2-1) defeated the Spartans (1-5) in Standish.
Bonny Eagle keeper Ryder Owens made three saves. Sanford’s Beckett Barlow had 13 saves.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 1: Two goals apiece from Noah Hebert and Ben Cobb highlighted a win for the Patriots (4-3) over the Panthers (3-3) in Gray.
Logan Inman and Griffin Richmond each added a goal.
Nathan McGillicuddy scored NYA’s goal.
MORSE 3, LEAVITT 1: Exaucee Namwira scored twice to pace the Shipbuilders (3-3-1) past the Hornets (1-6) in Turner.

Pablo Iglesias Martin and Lucas Houghton also scored, and Marcello Endrizzi made three saves for the Eagles, who allowed an own goal in the first half.
Eli Pluecker stopped 12 shots for the Panthers.
RICHMOND 5, CHOP POINT 0: Ben Fournier tallied three goals as the Bobcats (5-1) defeated the Blue Bears (0-6) in Richmond.
Hunter Mason added a goal and an assist, Wyatt Cassidy also scored, Kenny Mecham assisted on two goals, and Logan Zoulamis and Brady Alexander each had one assist.
David Edwards and Finn Foster shared goaltending duties for Richmond, each with two saves. Chop Point’s Elijah Burkhardt finished with 18 saves.
