Sophia DiPhillippo had 25 assists and Summer Gammon recorded nine kills as Gorham swept previously undefeated Biddeford in a Class A volleyball match, ending the host Tigers’ 25-match winning streak.

Meryk Lewellen chipped in with eight kills for Gorham (7-2), which is ranked No. 3 in this week’s Varsity Maine poll.

Danielle Emerson had 22 assists and 13 kills for top-ranked Biddeford (8-1), the defending Class A state champion. It’s the first regular-season loss for the Tigers since the truncated 2020 season, and the first in any match since the 2021 state final.

DEERING 3, LEWISTON 0: Shea Fenton tallied 21 assists, seven aces and two blocks as the Rams (7-2) defeated the Blue Devils (3-5) in three sets in Portland, 25-3, 25-17, 25-16.

Lara Gin added 13 kills and two blocks.

Kaitlyn Shannon notched eight kills and six digs for Lewiston. Isabella Enos had five digs, an ace and a kill, and Mika Torres contributed five assists.

FIELD HOCKEY

MT. ARARAT 2, MT. BLUE 1: Lydia Hiltz’s goal off a penalty late in the first half lifted the Eagles (6-2) over the Cougars (6-2) in Farmington.

Audrey Marchildon assisted on both Mt. Ararat goals, including the opener by Phoebe Fitzpatrick in the first quarter.

Mt. Blue’s Lily Huntley tied it later in the first.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/NYA 6, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Kenlie Nadeau and Amelia Bowie each scored twice for the Patriots (3-4) in a win over the Rangers (1-5) at Gray.

Emma Bowden added a goal and assisted on both of Nadeau’s goals. Olivia Knudsen opened the scoring with a first-quarter tally. Nadeau and Izzy Humphrey each had one assist.

CAPE ELIZABETH 4, GREELY 2: Mia Frost scored two goals and Lulu Stoecklein and Sophia Chung had one each as the Capers (6-3) beat the Rangers (3-5) in Cape Elizabeth.

Cape goalie Zoe Burgard made five saves.

Maya Tracey scored both goals for Greely.

OXFORD HILLS 2, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 1: Brynn Bean scored on a breakaway with 3:52 remaining to give the Vikings (2-3-1) a win over the Raiders (1-6) in Fryeburg.

Bean also assisted on the game’s first goal, by Cassie Turgeon in the first quarter.

Fryeburg’s Grace Porcaro tied it late in the third quarter, assisted by Jocelyn Roy.

Oxford Hills goalie Gabby Wright and Fryeburg goalie Rayna Wales each made two saves.

WAYNFLETE 9, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 1: Jacob Woodman recorded three goals and three assists, and Andrew Rodgers had two goals and one assist as the Flyers (5-3) cruised past the Panthers (3-5) at Portland.

SOUTH PORTLAND 2, MARSHWOOD 1: Curtis Metcalf found the back of the net with 1:30 left in regulation, giving the Red Riots (3-2-3) a win over the Hawks (1-6-1) in South Berwick.

South Portland’s Casey Corcoran opened the scoring early in the second half.

Owen Boyer tied it off an assist from James Melino.

WINDHAM 9, MASSABESIC 0: Luke Cunniffe and Nick Marion each got a hat trick as the Eagles (8-0-1) rolled past the Mustangs (1-6) in Windham.

Owen Dakin, Carter Engelman and Tyrie James also scored.

Lucas Farrenkopf made 13 saves for Massabesic.

POLAND 6, LEAVITT 3: Cohen Demuth notched a hat trick, and the Knights (4-3-1) struck for four goals in the first half against the Hornets (1-9) in Turner.

Breck Langevin, Talen Langevin and William Wallingford also scored for Poland.

Leavitt got two goals from Logan Berube, and a goal and an assist from Brayden Greenlaw.

SCARBOROUGH 4, FALMOUTH 0: Matthew Booth, Khalil Ghosheh, Dillon Macleod and Andrew Heanssler all scored for the Red Storm (4-2-1) in a win over the Navigators (3-3-2) at Falmouth.

Cooper Mallar and Kevine Paulino each had an assist. Seamus Corry made five saves for the shout.

GORHAM 3, BONNY EAGLE 0: Owen Spera, Cole Smith and Tristan Smith scored to lead the Rams (7-1-1) over the Scots (5-3-1) in Standish.

Ethan Homa made six saves in the shutout. Bonny Eagle’s Ryder Owens turned away five shots.

GREELY 2, YORK 0: Bez Mendelsohn scored two goals just 46 seconds apart early in the first half, leading the Rangers (6-2-1) past the Wildcats (3-4) at Cumberland.

Mendelsohn put in a rebound at 5:01 and converted a penalty kick at 5:47.

Landon Dominski made five saves for Greely. York’s Lukas Bouchard turned away eight shots.

KENNEBUNK 3, WESTBROOK 2: Blake Dallara connected from the top of the box with 2:28 left in the second overtime to give the Rams (5-3-1) the edge over the Blue Blazes (4-5-1) in Kennebunk.

Cooper Thompson and Ben Urban also scored for Kennebunk, and Drew Sliwkowski had two assists. Urban converted a penalty kick with 5:02 left in regulation to tie it at 2.

Marcelin Kobenan and Ithiel Mulumba scored and Paddy Walsh had two assists for the Blue Blazes. Westbrook keeper Jason McCarthy finished with 15 saves, including a penalty kick.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

YORK 2, GREELY 1: Isabelle Young scored off a pass from Ava Fontaine just before time expired as the Wildcats (1-4-2) stunned the Rangers (4-2-2) in Cumberland.

Greely’s Abby Lennox scored the only goal of the first half. York’s Scarlett Ring tied it with 14 minutes remaining in the second half.

LEAVITT 1, POLAND 0: Kylee Spugnardi scored midway through the first half, and the Hornets (2-7) held on to beat the Knights (1-6-1) in Poland.

Leavitt goalie Kira Welch made five saves. Poland’s Jill Barnes stopped three shots.
