Three years ago, my family drove to Scarborough to see a house for sale. We were early, so we killed time at a playground next to a shabby collection of trailers we would soon learn was Eight Corners School. Having seen schools in nearby towns, this was disappointing.

Thankfully, our real estate agent assured us this was a “good” school district, because we love it here. Eventually, though, people are going to start questioning it when they see these run-down facilities.

Anyone who has nostalgia for the old schools, I assure you: The thing you are nostalgic for no longer exists. Quality, updated public-school facilities are something any serious town should prioritize, and Scarborough has put that off for far too long.

Investing in Scarborough via the K-8 Strategic Solution is in the best interest of all residents, if the idea of having a nice town means anything. I’m voting “yes.”
