Ronan Casey scored the go-ahead goal on a feed from James Melino as Marshwood rallied in the second half for a 2-1 win over Thornton Academy in a Class A South boys’ soccer match Thursday in Saco.

Jack Anderson also scored for Marshwood (3-9-1), which is locked in a tight battle with Cheverus, Thornton and Biddeford for the last two playoff spots in Class A South.

Thornton (3-8-2) took the lead in the first half on Jeremiah Chessie’s goal off a corner kick. Anderson answered with an unassisted goal early in the second half.

SCARBOROUGH 5, SOUTH PORTLAND 1: Matthew Fallona led the way with two goals as the Red Storm (9-3-1) downed the Red Riots (6-4-3) in Scarborough.

Kilson Joao, Matthew Booth and Freddie Uzzi each added a goal. Scarborough keepers Seamus Corry and Ryan Shugars combined for five saves.

Curtis Metcalf scored for South Portland, and Michael Zaccaria made six saves.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 7, LISBON 0: The Raiders (8-4) received two goals apiece from AJ Ayala, Nicholas Calvo Fernandez and Hugo Sala Marseca as they roared out to a 6-0 halftime lead against the Greyhounds (3-8-1) in Fryeburg.

Alexis Castillo also scored.

Desean Trufant made seven saves for Lisbon.

KENNEBUNK 3, BIDDEFORD 1: Ben Urban scored two goals and Grahame Bean added another to lift the Rams (8-4-2) over the Tigers (4-9) in Kennebunk.

Turner Fadiman and Drew Sliwkowski each had an assist. Kennebunk keepers Trevor Kim and Dillon Jones combined for three saves.

Zeus Rankin scored for Biddeford with an assist from Benjamin Rankin. Dillon Emerson made seven saves.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 2, TRAIP ACADEMY 1: Lyla Casey netted a pair of goals late in the second half to give the Panthers (8-1-3) a win over the Rangers (3-8-2) in Kittery.

Casey’s first goal, off a corner kick, came just 35 seconds after Traip’s Keira Alessi broke a scoreless deadlock.

Meredith McGonigle assisted on Alessi’s goal, and Lily Stuart made 12 saves for Traip. NYA keeper Sarah Moore stopped two shots.

YARMOUTH 3, WELLS 1: Sonja Bell had a goal and an assist for the Clippers (10-1-1) as they defeated the Warriors (7-4-3) in Yarmouth.

Brooke Boone and Kadin Davoren also scored for Yarmouth, and Aine Powers and Neena Panozzo each got an assist.

Caitlin Shiels scored for Wells.

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, FREEPORT 1: Noelle Mallory and CC Puryee scored in the first half, and the Capers (12-1) held off a spirited comeback bid by the host Falcons (7-4-3).

Pearl Peterson cut into Freeport’s deficit midway through the second half on a direct kick by Rosie Panenka. The Falcons later hit the post with about six minutes remaining.

FIELD HOCKEY

GREELY 10, TRAIP ACADEMY 1: Maya Tracey recorded three goals and Grace Belanger and Lauren Hazard each scored twice, leading the Greely (7-6) over Traip (2-9-1) in Cumberland.

Rachel Miles, Helen Zimmerman and Evelyn were the other Greely goal scorers.

Eden Carney scored for Traip.

CONY 14, MORSE 0: Maci Freeman collected three goals and four assists as the Rams (11-1-1) cruised past the Shipbuilders (3-11) in Augusta.

Elise Cunningham also got a hat trick, and Abby Morrill, Helen Dineen and Caroline Hendrickson each scored twice. Natalie Dube and Hailey Johnson chipped in with a goal and an assist.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/NYA 3, POLAND 1: Emma Bowden scored twice and Olivia Knudsen chipped in with a goal as the Patriots (5-5-2) topped the Knights (3-10) in Gray.

VOLLEYBALL

MARSHWOOD 3, NOBLE 0: Sivan Semo led the Hawks (4-9) with six kills and Mady Denault added four kills as they downed the Knights (1-11) in straight sets in South Berwick.

Averi Dudley contributed 11 assists and seven aces.

YARMOUTH 3, WELLS 0: Grace Keaney and Annie Vinnakota each had 10 kills to power the Clippers (8-3) past the Warriors (2-9) in Yarmouth, 25-19, 25-8, 25-17.

FALMOUTH 3, WINDHAM 0: Erin Andrews had nine kills, and Rhyse Sholl finished with three aces, 13 assists and 11 digs as the Navigators (8-4) defeated the visiting Eagles (3-9) in three sets, 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.

Olivia Dickhaut led Falmouth with 20 digs. Sofie Asbjorbsen had three kills and three blocks.
