The Scarborough High School Track and Cross-Country Booster Club has a  history of fostering community involvement and supporting their student-athletes. One notable new event they sponsor is the Boo Bash, which debuted in 2022. This event is not just your typical 5k race; it’s a Halloween-themed extravaganza where anyone and everyone is welcome to participate. The race takes place Nov. 5. The kids 1 Mile Race starts at 10 a.m. near Scarborough Skate Park off Durant Drive (behind Scarborough Town Hall). The 5k Race starts on at 10:30 a.m. on Juneberry Drive just beyond Scarborough Memorial Park.

At Boo Bash, all ages are invited. While the main attraction is the 5k race, there’s also a 1-mile race designed for kids. Participants in the 1-mile kids’ race are in for a treat, as all finishers receive coveted Boo Bash medals. The top boy and girl in the race will be awarded plaques to commemorate their achievements. In the 5k event, the top three finishers per age group for each gender will also take home medals, with the top male and female finishers receiving special plaques.

The event features live music at the registration and finish area. The Scarborough Key Club provides free face painting, allowing people to embrace their inner ghouls and goblins.

There is hot cider and donut holes for the participants. One of the highlights of the event, is the creative costumes. Both volunteers and participants are strongly encouraged to don their Halloween best, adding an extra layer of fun to the occasion, especially the kids. A spine-tingling finish chute caps off the Halloween theme, providing a unique conclusion to the race.

Registration for this event takes place right in front of the Scarborough High School main entrance, and the festivities kick off with the 1-mile kids’ race at 10 a.m., which starts and finishes near the skate park behind the town hall. The 5k starts on Juneberry Lane just west of Memorial Park and concludes in front of Scarborough High School. For those attending, parking at Scarborough High School is recommended for both events.
