Rosalyn (Gallagher) Langella

PORTLAND – “Roz”, 93, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Fallbrook Woods with her daughter, Patricia, at her side.

She was born in Winthrop, Mass. to Marie and Dominic Raffi. She attended Portland schools, then graduated from Maine General Hospital School of Nursing and University of Southern Maine Family Nurse Associate Program to become a Nurse Practitioner. Her career included positions with Maine Medical Center, City of Portland, and Southern Maine Community College. She was always a trailblazer in setting up new programs to meet the needs of the community. Roz belonged to several professional associations and was an officer at the Italian Heritage Center.

She is survived by her daughters Patricia Fasulo and husband Michael, Judith Lamoureux, son, John Gallagher and wife Lisa; grandsons Stephen Newcomb and wife Kim, Adam Lamoureux and wife Bayleigh, and Shaun Lamoureux, granddaughter, Kathleen Gallagher; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Predeceased are son, Stephen Newcomb, and granddaughter, Kelley Newcomb; and her sister/best friend, Marie Fox.

Her life enjoyment included bocce, golf, dancing, shopping and traveling. For more than 50 years she and her “Club Girls” gathered every two weeks for friendship and cards.

During retirement she spent her winter months in Port Charlotte, Fla., and summers at Wassamki Springs. Roz was known for her genuine caring of others, both personally and professionally.

The family wishes to thank the amazing staff at Fallbrook Woods. During her time there she was always treated with kindness, dignity, respect and love.

A visiting hour will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday May 29, at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland with a Funeral Mass following at St Pius X, 492 Ocean Ave at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. A reception follows Mass at Bruno’s, 33 Allen Ave., Portland.
