Oak & Ember, a farm-to-table restaurant in Buxton, announced on social media Friday that it has closed for good.

“Well… we tried,” a post on the restaurant’s Instagram page reads in part. “It’s with the heaviest of hearts we announce our closure. Thank you for almost two years of incredible memories.”

The restaurant launched in September 2023 at 1420 Long Plains Road, a space formerly occupied by Buxton Common. Owner Shannon Keefe could not be reached immediately to explain the reasons behind the closure.

The restaurant earned three stars in the Press Herald almost exactly one year ago.
