The Islamic community of Portland is an important part of the fabric of this wonderful city.
On Monday at Fitzpatrick Stadium, thousands of Muslim families gathered for the annual Eid al-Adha prayers in commemoration of Abraham’s act of faith, the children resplendent in new clothes.
At a time when intolerance and bigotry are in the air, it was an inspiring sight – but there was no mention of the event in the newspaper I found on my front porch Tuesday morning.
Too bad! You missed a bet, but perhaps it isn’t too late to wish a blessed holiday to our neighbors.
