Maine Oxy, which supplies welding materials, industrial and specialty gases, and Lynox Welding Supply & Cleaning Systems have merged.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lynox will operate under the Maine Oxy name, including its headquarters in Presque Isle and locations in Hermon and Portland, according to a news release from Maine Oxy, which is based in Auburn.
Financial details were not disclosed.
The merger will bring the total number of employees to more than 200.
“Both companies have considerable talent and experience in all areas of the industry,” said Gene Lynch, Lynox president, in the release. “Going forward, we are confident this partnership will allow us to better serve all our customers.”
Founded in 1929 when it primarily supplied residential customers with propane, Maine Oxy has grown to supply welding and specialty gas services from 19 locations across New England and Canada. In 2000, Maine Oxy helped establish the New England School of Metalwork to train people in metalsmithing and welding.
