FALMOUTH — The St. Mary’s Garden Club is offering a $2,000 single-recipient grant to a local nonprofit organization to promote a pollinator-supporting program.

The one-time grant will be awarded to the organization that has the best plan to support pollinators, like birds, bats and bees, in Cumberland County. Projects supporting the Maine food system, including school gardens to feed low-income students and food pantry gardens, are considered a priority, and environmentally responsible projects are encouraged.

Funds must be used by Sept. 30, 2016, and priority will be considered for ideas that reach a large number of people and for which other financial support is unavailable. Requests must be received at St. Mary’s Garden Club, 43 Foreside Road, Falmouth, attn. Katy, by Dec. 15. Emails my be sent to katy@janelle.com. Applicants will be notified of a decision by Feb. 1, 2015.
