YARMOUTH — Due to the weather, the Yarmouth High School club Help Our Troops has postponed tonight’s scheduled screening of “The Way We Get By” until Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Yarmouth Performing Arts Center.
The film follows the lives of three Bangor residents who gather daily to talk to American soldiers leaving for and returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. In addition to the film screening, students in the club have been collecting supplies to send to the 209th Aviation Support Battalion stationed in Tikrit, Iraq.
According to club adviser and social studies teacher David Pearl, there will be active duty soldiers and veterans in attendance next Wednesday. He said the students have collected nearly 100 boxes of supplies and treats to send to the troops, and will include personalized letters, cards and messages in the boxes to be sent to the soldiers.
