SOUTH PORTLAND — The Planning Board on Tuesday voted unanimously to recommend a zoning change to allow a group housing project for the disabled in Knightville.
The proposal would convert an old ceramics studio at 20 E St. into group housing that would offer in-house services to disabled residents.
The building would contain as many as 10 bedrooms for residents, who would purchase their living quarters and pay for services. There would be common space on the first floor, and the third story would contain two apartments for caregivers.
The proposal now goes to the City Council.
