BRUNSWICK — A Garrison Street home was destroyed by fire Thursday evening.

The Brunswick Fire Department responded to 36 Garrison St. at 5:23 p.m. When firefighters arrived flames had already spread to three sides of the two-story building, Fire Chief Kenneth Brillant said Friday.

The two-alarm fire resulted in “pretty much total loss” of the home off Harpswell Road, Brillant said.

The home is owned by Ronald and Cheryl Garrison, according to town property transfer records.

The Garrisons were not home and there were no injuries, according to the chief. He said the blaze was controlled in about an hour, and the last firefighters left the scene at 9:30 p.m.

The house was listed for sale by Welcome Home Realty of Brunswick at the time of the fire, at a price of $139,900.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is being jointly handled by the Fire and Police departments, Brillant said.

The house at 36 Garrison Street burned in a two-alarm fire on Thursday, Oct. 8.
