The Internal Revenue Service is seeking 226 Maine taxpayers whose income tax refund checks could not be delivered in 2005. Checks total approximately $110,000 can be reissued as soon as taxpayers correct or update their addresses with the IRS.
The average amount owed to each person is $488.
“Our goal is to get this money back in the hands of the people it belongs to,” IRS Commissioner Mark. Everson said. “Visiting IRS.gov makes it easy for taxpayers to see if they’ve missed a refund.”
Local taxpayers who have checks waiting for them to claim include: Chester and Kathleen Cousins of Bridgton, Whitney Ward of Bridgton, Jacqueline Butland of Buxton, Michelle Woodcock of Buxton, Caitlin Albert of Gorham, Dana and Virginia Micucci of Gorham, Kyle Fisher of Limerick, Christopher Bean of Sebago, Deborah Auxier of Standish, Robert and Sandra Libby of Standish and Richard Turner of Standish.
