WESTBROOK – A prisoner on work release from Cumberland County Jail was found unconscious Tuesday afternoon, the result of an apparent drug overdose.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at 2:50 p.m. in Westbrook. Inmate Robert Louis Tucker, 44, was found unconscious at a job site in Westbrook where he was working as a painter.
Authorities say Tucker was found with a hypodermic needle nearby. Tucker, who was sentenced on burglary charges, was transported by rescue to Maine Medical Center in Portland for drug overdose treatment and is in stable condition.
The Sheriff’s office and the Westbrook Police Department are investigating the incident.
