The Gorham boys and girls indoor track teams got their Southwestern Maine Activities Association regular season underway on Saturday at the Portland Expo. The Rams finished second to Deering in both meets.

The Deering boys scored 143.5 points to best Gorham (117), Marshwood (13), and Noble (6.5). Meanwhile, the Deering girls scored 131 points to top Gorham (117), Marshwood (27), and Noble (12).

Gorham’s boys had individual wins from Greg Gagne (junior 40), Isaac Pease (junior 300), Rob Marean (intermediate 600), Brett Connolly (intermediate 45 hurdles), Justin Villacci (senior 40), Kyle Perkins (senior 600), Josh Maxwell (senior 45 hurdles, high jump and 600), Tim Millett (mile), Kyle Brown (800), and Andrew Nash (shot put).

The Gorham girls had individual wins from Lauren Chouinard (junior 40 and 200), Hannah Prince (junior 400), Sarah McCullough (junior 800), Kristan Bowie (junior 45 hurdles), Leigh Maniscalco (senior 40 and 400), Rachel Wilkinson (mile), and Solange Carpenter (600).

Lauren Chouinard was selected the junior athlete of the meet and Leigh Maniscalco was the senior athlete of the meet.

The Bonny Eagle boys and girls indoor track teams also finished in second place in both of their season-opening meets on Saturday.

Scarborough’s boys scored 98 points to finish ahead of Bonny Eagle (80), Biddeford (77), and South Portland (68). And the Scarborough girls won their competition with 153.5 points followed by Bonny Eagle (134), Biddeford (64.5), South Portland (36) and McAuley (8).

The Bonny Eagle boys had winning efforts from Noah Schoneberg (junior 600), Nick Winslow (junior 45 hurdles), Justin Denney (intermediate 40), Tyler Shortsleeve (intermediate 600), and Joe Bailey (intermediate 45 hurdles).

The Bonny Eagle girls had first-place finishes from Katie Kohler (junior 40), Lauren Dudley (junior 800), Melissa Carrier (senior 40), Katlyn Gardiner (senior 200), and Ann Wedge (senior shot put).

Melissa Carrier was selected as the senior athlete of the week.

The Westbrook girls scored 11 points and placed fifth in a track meet won by Thornton Academy on Saturday.

The Blazes points came from Amanda Northrop (fourth in the junior 200 and fifth in the junior 40), Laurean Akilimali (second in the senior 400), and Samantha Creenan (sixth in the mile).

The Westbrook boys scored 43 points and also finished fifth in their first meet of the year.

The Blazes had winning efforts from Stephen Burnham (junior 600), and Corey Luce (senior 300).

Other points were scored by Corey Luce (second in the senior 40), Robert Preston (fifth in the senior 40), Zachary Good (sixth in the intermediate 300), Shiquan James (fourth in the senior 400), Daniel Roukey (third in the junior 40 and junior 300), Rolando Mejia (sixth in the junior 40), Mathew Lampron (sixth in the 200), Tanguay (sixth in the 400), and Dominic DiBiase (sixth in the high jump).
