Coach: Christena Dillon
Last year’s record: 3-10-1
Key returning players: The Eagles have a good group put together under Dillon’s leadership. The team is led by last year’s top scorer in senior captain Molly McVetty, who also played in the Katahdin League in the offseason. Senior captain Marina Davidson also played in Katahdin, and according to Dillon has “improved immensely.” Other senior captains include Sarah Scvorak, who has the ability (and the experience) to play any position on the field, and Lindsey Bicknell, who it a highly-talented defensive powerhouse.
Key games this season: “After last year, every game is a key game,” Dillon said. “As a team we are not going to look ahead too far. We are going to focus on the game at hand. With the hard work the team has done over the summer we as a team think anything is possible. A lot of other schools are rebuilding. We should hang with the best of them.”
Season outlook: “Each year we say no team goal is unattainable,” Dillon said. “Our goal is to make the playoffs. The team’s attitude this year has been no less than positive and both the team and myself believe that our goal will be met with hard work, dedication, and will. The team this year knows we have to score goals to win – everyone is thinking offense. As their coach I believe in them, and this will be a great season.”

We have a very competitive schedule but we are excited to play some of the best teams in the league. If we stay healthy, we feel that we will have a very successful year.”

Coach: Jeff Riddle
Last year’s record: For the girls, 12-2. The boys were 6-6
Key returning athletes: For the girls, key runners will be Hannah Damron, Talia McKay (captain), Lucy Algeo (captain), Meghan Rich, Sam Frost, Mackenzie Joy and Rosalyn Moisan. For the boys, the leaders will be Keegan Brennan (assistant captain), Sam Brockelbank (assistant captain), Asa Lewis, Rob Cave, Travis Harkins (captain), John Bland and Patrick Rice.
Key meets this season: “We look forward to each week’s competition. The key meet of the season is our last meet to assess who is healthy and who will represent at the much anticipated regional championship meet,” Riddle said.
Season outlook: “Our JV and varsity girls’ teams have depth and talent,” Riddle said. “In the 12 years I have coached cross country, we have never been this holistically prepared, fit, and ready for our season. After already mirroring last year’s win at the Lake Region Championships, the girls are off and running strong. We have a goal to mimic or better our regular season results from fall 2010, but we have loftier goals beyond that and hope to reach beyond those goals with dedicated effort, integrity, unity, and belief.”
“The boys have already bettered last year’s third place finish by earning second at the Lake Region Championships,” Riddle added. “So the boys are having a great start. They will look to again earn a box at the state championship meet and we hope to send individuals to the New England Championships. Time will tell.”
